CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A district judge has put Nevada's sweeping school choice program on hold just weeks before money was expected to flow to parents for private school tuition. Carson City District Court Judge James Wilson granted a preliminary injunction today in a challenge over the constitutionality of the program.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a speeding SUV went off an Interstate 15 overpass in North Las Vegas yesterday, killing a man and woman. Police say the SUV struck the median, flipped and fell 27 feet to the ground. Killed were 52-year-olod Rocky Dean of Las Vegas and 58-year-old Belinda West of North Las Vegas.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is taking his message to Elko later this month. The former Florida governor has scheduled a rally for the afternoon of Jan. 26 at the Northeastern Nevada Museum.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Arraignment is scheduled tomorrow for a former Clark County elected official facing a drunken driving charge. Tom Collins' attorney appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court today asking for the delay. The 65-year-old former Democratic state lawmaker and Clark County commissioner was arrested Dec. 11.
