SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A former Utah lawmaker is being sentenced today after he pleaded guilty to taking money from the campaign fund of his former boss, the mayor of Salt Lake County. Democrat Justin Miller resigned in October, the same day he acknowledged advancing himself $24,000 in campaign money and never paying it back. Mayor Ben McAdams revised the figure up to $50,000, a number that Miller disputes.

WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A West Jordan man is in jail on charges that he drove drunk into a utility box and a home, severing a gas line and causing a power outage. KSL-TV reports that police say Alex Cushing drove his car over a stop sign early yesterday and then crashed. Police say Cushing showed clear signs of being inebriated.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon Church is set to begin giving public tours of the religion's newest temple: A renovated historical tabernacle in Provo that nearly burned down in 2010. The Provo City Center Temple will become the religion's 150th temple. In 1980, there were only 19 temples. Church officials are giving a media tour of the temple today, with public tours set to begin later this month.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gordon Hayward scored 25 points and the Utah Jazz snapped a seven-game road losing streak with an 86-74 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers last night. Kobe Bryant didn't play for the Lakers because of a strained right Achilles tendon. The NBA's third all-time leading scorer has played in only 72 of 205 games since tearing his left Achilles with two games left in the 2012-13 season.
