BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Fourteen people connected to a major prescription painkiller operation in southwestern Idaho have been sentenced. KTVB-TV reports 22-year-old Austin Serb, the ringleader, was sentenced to 10 years and ordered to forfeit $1 million. Other sentences ranged in severity. The operation led to a spike in prescription drug abuse in Idaho's Treasure Valley. About 5,000 pills were sold in Idaho every month for several years.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Environmental groups are objecting to how a federal agency has developed a new management plan for handling conflicts between wolves and livestock producers in Wyoming. An agency with the U.S. Agriculture Department's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service completed an environmental planning document last fall that favored its current lethal and nonlethal wolf conflict management program. The Greater Yellowstone Coalition contends the public and other federal land managers were left in the dark as the agency went through its planning process.

DENVER (AP) — Republicans are widely condemning an attempt by armed ranchers in Oregon to force the federal government to return western lands to local communities. But the GOP has grown more supportive of the ranchers' goal, if not their tactics. Republican presidential candidates are increasingly arguing that the federal government owns too much of the West's land. The Republican National Committee passed a resolution calling for the return of federal western land to states.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Quinton Hooker scored 24 points and Corey Baldwin added 22 as North Dakota beat Idaho State 84-76 this weekend. Ethan Telfair scored a career-high 37 points for Idaho State.
