VENTNOR, N.J. (AP) — The father of a baby girl whose mother allegedly rolled over onto her while high on drugs says the child has died.
Marco Mejia says 7-month old Olaia (oh-LAY-uh) Marie Mejia died at a children's hospital in Philadelphia on Friday morning. The child had been found unconscious at her mother's Ventnor home on Jan. 3.
A cause of death has not been disclosed.
The girl's mother is 31-year-old Lisa Scalia. She remains jailed on $100,000 cash bail. She initially was charged with child endangerment and drug possession, but could face more serious charges following her daughter's death.
Authorities have said Scalia had 34 bags of heroin and 10 oxycodone pills. It wasn't clear Sunday if she has retained an attorney.

This story has been corrected to show the child was 7 months old, not 8 months old.
