SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The U.S. military says an American B-52 bomber has returned to its base on the island of Guam after flying over South Korea in a show of force following North Korea's nuclear test which the U.S. calls a blatant violation of its international obligations. The Pacific Command says the B-52 was joined in the flyover by South Korean F-15 and U.S. F-16 fighters.
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Recaptured drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's secret interview with actor Sean Penn helped authorities locate his whereabouts. That's according to Mexico's attorney general who says Guzman's contact with actors and producers for a biopic helped gave law enforcement a new lead on tracking and capturing him. Guzman was arrested early Friday.
BURNS, Ore. (AP) — The occupation of a national wildlife refuge is continuing in Oregon. The group is protesting federal land management policies. But another group of armed men from the Pacific Patriot Network who arrived Saturday morning to, as they put it, provide security were sent home a few hours later by the people leading the occupation who told the men they weren't needed.
CHICAGO (AP) — The senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.com expects gasoline prices to start to inch up when refinery maintenance begins in the middle of next month. But Patrick DeHaan says motorists are currently enjoying prices at the pump that are 19 cents lower than a year ago. GasBuddy.com says the average price for a gallon of regular gas nationwide is $1.97.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Multi-State Lottery Association says the winning numbers for the record $900 million Powerball jackpot are 32-16-19-57-34 and Powerball number 13. The drawing was held live on TV and on the association's website Saturday night. Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
