HOUSTON (AP) — Anthony Odunsi led with 18 points and Reveal Chukwujekwu scored seven of his 12 points in a 59-second span of the final two minutes as Houston Baptist defeated Southeastern Louisiana 77-58 on Saturday night.
Houston Baptist (8-7, 3-0 Southland) never trailed, and held off a Southeastern Louisiana rally that saw the Lions (2-13, 0-2) come as close as 65-57 with just under three minutes remaining.
The Huskies converted seven of eight from the foul line in those final minutes, with Chukwujekwu adding two free throws, a 3-pointer and a layup.
Zay Jackson led Southeastern Louisiana with 21 points, Jamichael Hawkins adding 14 for the short-handed Lions, who traveled with eight players, seven seeing action and two fouling out.
Houston Baptist led 43-24 at halftime before Southeastern Louisiana stubbornly began to claw back. The Lions shot 32 percent (19-60).
The Huskies made 24 of 53 field goals and 22 of 30 free throws.
