NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Mark Matthews had 18 points and C.J. Gettys added 15, both career highs, to lead North Carolina-Wilmington to an 85-67 win over Delaware on Saturday night.
Chris Flemmings and Craig Ponder added 16 points apiece for the Seahawks (10-5, 2-2 Colonial Athletic), who shot 53 percent (35 of 66).
Gettys, a 7-foot junior, hit 6 of 7 shots, and Matthews, a freshman, made 7 of 11, including 4 of 5 3-pointers. Ponder also made 7 of 11 from the field.
Marvin King-Davis made 8 of 11 from the field and 13 of 15 from the line, finishing with 29 points to lead the Blue Hens (5-10, 0-4), who lost their seventh straight.
Delaware was 30 of 39 from the line to 8 of 10 for Wilmington but the Seahawks forced 20 turnovers for 26 points. The Blue Hens' were outscored 52-24 in the paint and their bench was outscored 40-1.
