Evansville holds Bradley to 35 points in 32-point win, 67-35

EVANSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — D.J. Balentine scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half and Evansville held Bradley to 26 percent shooting in a 67-35 victory on Saturday.

Evansville jumped out to an 8-0 lead as Bradley went scoreless for the first four minutes. The Braves later went without a field goal for seven-plus minutes as Evansville extended its lead to 21-6.

The Purple Aces doubled up Bradley 36-18 at halftime after holding the Braves to just 6-of-26 shooting (23 percent) from the field.

Blake Simmons hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start a 19-7 spurt to start the second half for a 55-25 lead.

Jaylon Brown added 14 points for Evansville (14-3, 3-1 Missouri Valley) and Simmons finished with 13.

Donte Thomas scored 11 points for Bradley (2-15, 0-4), which has scored 49 points or fewer in five games this season.

It was the fewest points scored by the Braves since at least the 1996-97 season.
