IUPUI pulls away in final 3:00, beats Western Illinois 67-60

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Darell Combs made four 3-pointers and scored 22 points, and IUPUI pulled away in the final three minutes to beat Western Illinois 67-60 on Saturday.

Combs was 8 of 13 from the floor. Nick Osborne had 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting with 10 rebounds for IUPUI (7-12, 3-1 Summit League). Matt O'Leary added nine points.

Garret Covington scored 16 points and Jalen Chapman had 13 with 10 rebounds to lead Western Illinois (7-7, 0-3), which has lost five-straight games.

Covington made a pair of free throws to tie it at 53-all with 3:40 to play. Marcellus Barksdale answered with a jumper to spark a 10-1 surge and the Jaguars led 63-54 with a minute left. Osborne tipped in his missed jumper, O'Leary had a steal and scored a layup, and the Leathernecks missed seven shots during the stretch.
