CHICAGO (AP) — The average price for a gallon of regular gas is $1.97. That's 19 cents lower than prices at the pump one year ago, according to GasBuddy.com. The group's senior petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, says 77 percent of the country is paying less than $2.00 a gallon this weekend.

DeHaan expects prices to start to inch up when refinery maintenance begins in the middle of next month.

According to a diagram on the group's website, higher prices can be found on the West Coast and Northeastern U.S. The lowest prices are in the Southeast.
