RENO, Nev. (AP) — A state-sanctioned committee in Washoe County has decided to put a ballot question before voters in November seeking tax increases to generate $600 million for the Washoe County School District. The Public Schools Overcrowding & Repair Needs Committee voted unanimously today to move forward with the ballot measure and work out details before the formal question has to be written by April.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Officials say an unruly passenger aboard an American Airlines flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Las Vegas prompted an unscheduled landing at Dallas-Fort Worth. American Airlines Flight 1735 was about midway through its 2,000-mile flight yesterday when the disruption happened.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada officials are recommending that the federal government purchase more than 14,500 acres of land in the Pine Nut Mountains. The Nevada Appeal reports that the land is worth $11.4 million and includes sage grouse habitat. Gov. Brian Sandoval announced the recommendation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Perhaps the most whimsical thing being pitched at the massive CES gadget show in Las Vegas is a mechanical fuzzy tail that you can clip on like a seatbelt and control from your smartphone. Santa Cruz-based In-Tail says the smart tail will come with an audio sensor so it can dance along to music while attached to one's backside.
