WASHINGTON (AP) — Employers appear to be more upbeat about the economy than some investors anxious about China's economy. Wall Street had its worst week since September 2011 despite today's solid jobs report. Firms added 292,000 jobs last month and the jobless rate held steady at 5 percent on the strength of healthy consumer spending and modest gains in home construction.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio is calling for the Mexican government to hand over captured drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. The Florida senator says Guzman should be transferred to U.S. custody because he escaped from Mexican prisons twice. Guzman's last escape -- six months ago -- was through an elaborate tunnel. He is wanted on a long list of U.S. charges.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea is warning of war against South Korea, which has been blasting anti-Pyongyang propaganda across the rivals' tense border. The broadcasts were started in retaliation for this week's nuclear test by the North. The regime is extremely sensitive to criticism of its authoritarian leadership. It says the broadcasts are an act of war.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine's governor is blaming a slip of the tongue and reporters for what critics say was a racist remark. Gov. Paul LePage did apologize for saying out-of-state drug dealers with names like "D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty" are also impregnating young white girls. LePage says he meant to say Maine women.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — There's no explanation about what happened, but a disruption by a passenger forced an unscheduled stop in Dallas-Fort Worth for an American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Las Vegas. The flight resumed in about 45 minutes. American referred questions about the nature of the disruption to the FBI.
