MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is behind bars again following a deadly shootout between his men and Mexican marines. Guzman tunneled out of a maximum-prison prison six months ago. Authorities say five of his men were killed in an early morning raid in his home state of Sinaloa. An arsenal recovered included a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The mother of a man facing charges for ambushing a Philadelphia police officer describes him as a devout Muslim, but also reportedly says he has been hearing voices lately. That's what she told the Philadelphia Inquirer. The wounded officer had been sitting his marked cruiser. Police say more than a dozen shots were fired by the suspect. The officer was able to wound Edward Archer, who allegedly pledged his allegiance to the extremist group Islamic State.

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York Police sergeant has been stripped of her gun and badge and charged internally with failure to supervise in the July 2014 chokehold death of Eric Garner. Sgt. Kizzy Adonis was one of the supervising officers at the scene. Bystander video showed Garner saying 11 times that he couldn't breathe. The officer who applied the chokehold remains on desk duty.

NEW YORK (AP) — It's been a see-saw day on Wall Street. Stocks started up following upbeat news of a hiring burst last month. But prices sank later in the days because of continue investor worries about declines in China's huge economy. Plunging oil prices also weighed in. The Dow finished down nearly 168 points. The Dow and S&P are each down about 6 percent for the week.

MARYSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man who accidentally ran over his 4-year-old son has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter count and a felony forgery charge. The plea deal might keep him out of state prison. Prosecutors allege the child wasn't properly restrained before he fell out of a van at a construction site where the father had been looking for scrap metal to sell.
