CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Chris Horton had 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks on Thursday night, and Austin Peay led the entire game to beat Jacksonville State 73-54.
Horton made all eight of his first-half, field-goal attempts, and had 19 points and nine rebounds while the Governors (8-9, 1-1 Ohio Valley) built a 40-26 halftime lead. Horton finished 9 of 12 from the field and Josh Robinson added 13 points with 3-of-6 3-point shooting.
Austin Peay had a 12-2 run to lead 56-34 midway through the second half and a 9-0 run to lead 72-49 with 1:36 to go.
JaQuail Townser had 10 points and Christian Cunningham had 10 rebounds to lead Jacksonville State (5-13, 1-2). The Gamecocks struggled with overall shooting at 29.9 percent and fared only slightly better from 3-point range at 9 of 29 (31.0 percent).
Greg Tucker's 3-pointer with 4:55 left pulled Jacksonville State within 63-49.
