BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Donald Trump is campaigning tonight in Vermont -- Bernie Sanders country. The venue, a theater in downtown Burlington, holds just 1,400 seats and the campaign says it distributed more than 20,000 tickets. Protesters gathered across the street exchanged chants with Trump supporters waiting to enter the venue.
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A group of state and local officials will be appointed to a panel that will deal with the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. An emergency financial manager appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder switched its drinking water source from the Detroit system to the Flint River in April 2014 to save money. That caused blood lead levels to increase. Lead can cause permanent brain damage.
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (AP) — An elite Rhode Island boarding school has agreed to hire an independent investigator to look into allegations of sexual abuse made by at least 40 former students covering four decades. They question a previous investigation at St. George's School conducted by the law partner of the school's attorney.
BRIDGTON, Maine (AP) — Maine's Republican governor says out-of-state drug dealers are impregnating "young white" girls. Gov. Paul LePage made the remark while talking about the state's heroin epidemic. He said the dealers are "guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty." Moderate Republican and LePage critic Lance Dutson describes the governor's comment about drug dealers as "blatantly racist."
