DENVER (AP) — Peyton Manning will be back as starting quarterback when Denver opens post-season play at home on Jan. 17. The 39-year old has missed seven starts while recovering from a torn plantar fascia. Brock Osweiler filled in as starter in Manning's absence and will return to his back-up role.

NEW YORK (AP) — Ken Griffey Jr. will go into the Hall of Fame on July 24 with a Seattle Mariners' cap and Mike Piazza will have a New York Mets' hat. The pair made their announcements at a news conference Thursday, a day after they were elected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Griffey spent a lengthy period of his career with Cincinnati, and Piazza reached the major leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

HOUSTON (AP) — The NBA has suspended Houston guard Ty Lawson for three games without pay for a drunken-driving case in California last year. He'll miss action starting with tonight's home game against Utah. The incident in Los Angeles happened in July, about the time the former Denver star was traded to the Rockets.

ANAHEIM (AP) — Anaheim has shored up its depth at goalie by acquiring Dustin Tokarski from Montreal in exchange for left wing Max Friberg. The move comes a day after Anaheim All-Star John Gibson left the shutout loss to Toronto with a lower-body injury. However, the injury isn't thought to be related to the deal. Tokarski is 10-12-5 in 33 career NHL appearances with Montreal and Tampa Bay.

KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) — Round 1 of the PGA's season-opening Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, is underway. Among those competing in the event for 2015 winners only are Jordan Spieth (speeth), Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson.
