CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) — Court documents filed in Orange Superior Court say a former elementary school principal accused of having inappropriate contact with a child plans to alter his plea next week.

The Valley News reports (http://bit.ly/1PggR8a ) that Richard Talbot, formerly principal of Tunbridge Central School, will plead guilty at his change of plea hearing scheduled for Jan. 13 in Chelsea.

The 68-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of engaging in a prohibited act with a student in May.

Prosecutors say Talbot groped an 11-year-old girl during an "inappropriate hug" that took place behind the closed doors of his office in September 2014.

A school district investigation found that Talbot routinely engaged in inappropriate behavior with students at the school. He was fired in March.

Talbot's attorney didn't return requests for comment.
