SEATTLE (AP) — Ken Griffey Jr. was flying high above Seattle.

Well, his No. 24 was.

Shortly after the former Mariners star was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday with the highest percentage of votes in history, Seattle raised a giant banner with Griffey's number on it to the top of the iconic Space Needle.

Jay Buhner, Griffey's teammate from 1989-99, hoisted the flag shortly after Griffey learned of his record-setting selection to the Hall on Wednesday. He received 99.3 percent of the vote, topping Tom Seaver's mark of 98.84 percent.
