BALTIMORE (AP) — Quinton Chievous had career highs with 28 points and 18 rebounds, and scored Hampton's lone field goal in overtime to beat Morgan State 83-80 Wednesday night.
Chievous shot 11 of 19 from the field, had three assists, three steals and finished with eight offensive rebounds for Hampton (6-7, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic). He has four double-doubles this season and seven in his last 14 games.
Donte Peltrow hit a 3_which was the Bears' last field goal of the game — to make it 78-71 with 2:45 to play in regulation. Kalin Fisher then hit a 3 with 2:26 left to trigger a 7-0 Hampton run.
Chievous made a pair of free throws to tie it at 78 with 27 seconds left. Morgan State (2-12, 0-1) shot 0 for 5 from the field in overtime.
Brian Darden finished with 23 points and made 5 3s for Hampton.
Peltrow scored 20 points and had six rebounds for the Bears.
