Lafayette gets first Patriot win, beats Army 76-73

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Paulius Zalys had 17 points and seven rebounds on Wednesday night and Lafayette got its first Patriot League win of the season 76-73 over Army.

Nick Lindner made 4 of 4 free throws in the final 16 seconds to seal the win for Lafayette (4-10, 1-2). He finished with 13 points along with Zach Rufer. Matt Klinewski added 10.

The Leopards led 63-50 with 6:48 left in the game after a 14-3 run capped by Zalys. Larry Toomey answered with a 3-pointer for Army (10-5, 1-2). Kyle Wilson followed quickly with back-to-back 3s and Dylan Cox's basket pulled the Black Knights within 65-61 at 4:28.

With 57 seconds remaining, Wilson's field goal cut the deficit to 70-68, but Klinewski pushed the Leopards' lead back to four.

Tanner Plomb converted a 3-point play to make it 72-71 with 24 seconds.

Wilson had 21 points, Plomb 20 and Cox 12 for Army.
