North Florida pulls away from Stetson late in 97-79 win

DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Dallas Moore scored 30 points and dished out eight assists and North Florida cruised to a 97-79 win over Stetson to open Atlantic Sun Conference play on Wednesday night.

The Ospreys (12-6, 1-0) have won six consecutive conference openers and nine straight in the series with Stetson.

Demarcus Daniels finished with 22 points and nine rebounds while Chris Davenport added 15 points, 16 boards, and nine assists for North Florida. Trent Mackey had 12 points, all from behind the 3-point arc, for the Ospreys.

Cameron Harvey hit a 3-pointer for Stetson to cut the North Florida lead to 74-70 with 6:05. But from there the Ospreys ripped off a 15-2 run, capped by back-to-back Mackey 3's, to push the lead to 89-72 and put the game away.

Derick Newton scored 22 points and added seven boards to lead Stetson (6-10, 0-1). Brian Pegg added 16 points.
