RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State tight end David J. Grinnage will skip his final season and enter the NFL draft.

The school announced Grinnage's decision in a news release Wednesday. In a statement, Grinnage thanked the coaching staff and said it was "the right decision for me and my family at this time."

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound tight end had 25 catches for 290 yards and three touchdowns last season and had been a preseason candidate for the Mackey Award presented to the nation's top tight end for each of the past two seasons. He finished with 67 catches for 798 yards and nine touchdowns in 38 career games with 25 starts.
