SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 7-year-old boy was in an SUV when it was stolen in Salt Lake City, but he apparently slept through the whole thing.

Police found the boy and the car Tuesday, about 30 minutes after an Amber Alert had been issued.

The boy wasn't hurt, Salt Lake City police Detective Veronica Montoya said.

Salt Lake City police Lt. Dave Cracroft says the SUV was parked outside an apartment complex around 5 a.m. Tuesday when the owner put his son in the back seat and turned the vehicle on to warm it up. Then he went inside to get another child.

When the father returned, the vehicle was gone.

Police later found the SUV abandoned, with the sleeping boy inside. No arrest has been made.
