BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Conservation groups are asking the federal government to continue keeping a close eye on gray wolf populations throughout the northern Rocky Mountains because states are aggressively seeking to kill more wolves. According to the petition filed, the five groups are seeking an additional five years of monitoring from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Idaho lawmakers have approved spending $400,000 since 2014 to reduce the state's wolf population.
KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho (AP) — Kootenai County authorities say they've identified a person or persons of interest in the case of a Spokane woman whose body was found in Lake Coeur d'Alene in November. A Sheriff's spokesman says 27-year-old Kimberly Sue Vezina most likely died in Washington, was transported to Idaho and dumped in the lake in an effort to conceal the incident.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say a 61-year-old man from Pennsylvania and a 17-year-old girl from North Carolina died in a plane crash in Idaho near the Wyoming border. Officials say Reade Genzlinger of Bryn Athyn and the girl from Chapel Hill died in the crash. The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office declined to release the girl's name. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A teen who filed a lawsuit after being sexually abused by a security supervisor at an Idaho juvenile detention facility has reached a settlement with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
