Watson leads Creighton over Georgetown 79-66

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Maurice Watson Jr. scored a career-high 27 points and Creighton dropped Georgetown 79-66 on Tuesday night.

Watson was 9 of 13 from the floor and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for Creighton (11-5, 2-1 Big East). James Milliken scored 12 points and Isaiah Zierden added 11.

Georgetown (9-6, 2-1) was led by D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera with 17 points and seven assists. Jessie Govan scored 17 points with seven rebounds.

The Hoyas led midway through the second half, but Creighton made a 10-point run to go up by seven with eight minutes left.

Reggie Cameron's dunk drew Georgetown to within three with 6:55 to go. Watson responded with a 3-pointer, and Milliken made a pair from the line to stretch it back to eight.

Georgetown didn't get closer than six points the rest of the way as Creighton ended the game on a 9-2 run.

Creighton made 21 of 25 from the line, while the Hoyas were just 3 of 7.
