CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Brandon Pye scored 23 points and made seven 3-pointers — both career highs — and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat Central Arkansas 94-82 Tuesday night.
Hameed Ali scored 20 points with a career-high five 3s, Joe Kilgore added 13, and Rashawn Thomas 12 for the Islanders (10-3, 1-0 Southland). It's their best start after 13 games in program history.
Leading by two at halftime, Ali hit three 3s in a 14-3 run and the Islanders pulled away 59-47, then led by 20 after Pye hit consecutive 3s.
The Islanders made 14 of 31 from long distance (45 percent) as they tied a season-high with 94 points.
Jordan Howard scored 36 points with six 3s, both career highs, and hit 10 of 10 free throws for his 39th double-figure game for the Bears (1-11, 0-2), who lost their eighth straight game.
