BOSTON (AP) — Some former students who attended a $56,000-a-year Rhode Island board school are asking for investigation into alleged sexual abuse by school employees. St. George's School in Middletown announced last month that it found 26 students were sexually abused by six school employees in the 1970s and 1980s, and it acknowledged that it didn't report the abuse at the time. Lawyers for the victims say they've found an additional 16 former students who were abused.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — As much as 15 inches of rain could fall in the next 16 days in drought-parched Northern California. But scientists say they're not sure how much relief the rain will bring. In Los Angeles County, showers could create flash-flooding, along with mud and debris flows, especially in wildfire burn areas. The brewing El Nino system is expected to affect California and the rest of the nation in the coming weeks and months.
WASHINGTON (AP) — GOP presidential candidates are promising that if they're elected they'll swiftly repeal President Barack Obama's executive actions on gun control. Obama on Monday moved to require background checks for guns purchased from dealers even if they're bought online or at gun shows. The new federal guidance aims to narrow the so-called gun show loophole that allows some purchases to occur without a background check.
WASHINGTON (AP) — An industry tally shows that there were more airline deaths worldwide blamed on deliberate acts in 2015 than from accidental air crashes. That's for the second year in a row. The tally by the aviation news and industry company Flightglobal finds there were eight accidental airline crashes last year, which accounted for 161 deaths. A total of 374 people were killed when a German airliner was deliberately flown into the French Alps and a Russian airliner exploded over Egypt.
BEIJING (AP) — Authorities in northeastern China now say 17 people have been killed and 32 injured in a bus fire. Authorities believe today's fire was arson and they're looking for a 33-year-old man believed to have set it. Eight of the injured are in critical condition.
