CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina judge has approved bond for a fired police officer charged with last April's shooting of an unarmed black motorist. Former North Charleston officer Michael Slager is being allowed a $500,000 surety bond. His trial date has been set for late October. That's because the same prosecutor is handling the July trial of the white suspect in the killings of nine people at a black church in Charleston.
