BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Simplot family has announced that the hilltop mansion in Boise that they offered as Idaho's governor's residence will soon be demolished. A spokesman says the 7,400-foot home has been vacant for 10 years. The home was donated to the state in 2004, but was returned to the family in 2013 because it was too costly to maintain.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office will seek the death penalty for a parolee who is accused of killing a Coeur d'Alene police officer. The Spokesman-Review reports prosecutors allege that Jonathan Renfro shot Sgt. Greg Moore on May 5 because he feared Moore would find a handgun in his pocket, a parole violation.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A judge has granted prosecutors an extension to decide whether to seek the death penalty against a man accused of a fatal shooting in Twin Falls. Jacob Marshall of Jackson is charged with six felony counts including murder and murder conspiracy in connection to the July 25 death of 53-year-old Kent Storrer.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — An Indian tribe in Washington state has become the first in the Lower 48 to hire a dental therapist to provide basic oral health services. In a move opposed by the Washington State Dental Association, the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community today began offering the services of a dental therapist to its members.
