BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Wildlife officials have divvied up how many grizzly bears could be killed by hunters in the Yellowstone region of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. The move comes as the states seek control of a species shielded from hunting for the past 40 years. A draft agreement obtained by The Associated Press says hunters in Wyoming would get a 58 percent share of the harvest. Montana would get 34 percent and Idaho 8 percent.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A large-scale timber sale and rehabilitation project recently approved by the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest still faces opposition from the Nez Perce Tribe over environmental concerns. The Lewiston Tribune reports the 44,000-acre project is backed by county commissioners, loggers and environmentalists. The tribe worries that the logging will negatively impact Clear Creek, the water source for a fish hatchery it manages.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Plans by Boise State to add 50 acres to its campus could threaten a local neighborhood. The Idaho Statesman reports the bigger campus would allow more room for academic, research and athletic facilities and more student housing. The plan also aims for a vehicle-free campus center, which could increase traffic elsewhere. The neighbors say they are not happy about losing the neighborhood feel.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Fremont County teen will soon be heading to North Carolina to compete in the 2016 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championship. The Post Register reports 14-year-old Kelton Williams of Ashton will head with his family to the competition Thursday for the first national race of his yearslong biking career. In this week's race, he'll be competing against 15- and 16-year-olds.
