HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Casey Lozar, a bureau chief in the state Commerce Department, has been appointed to the Board of Regents that oversees the Montana university system.

Gov. Steve Bullock announced Lozar's appointment on Friday. He replaces Major Robinson, who left the board in May to take a job with Universal Studios in Florida.

Lozar is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes. He has a bachelor's degree in history from Dartmouth, a master's in teaching and curriculum development from Harvard and a master's of business administration from the University of Colorado, Denver.

He has been a teacher, has served as a vice president of the American Indian College Fund and was manager of the Montana State Tribal Economic Development Commission. He is now chief of the Business Development Bureau within the Commerce Department.
