HURRICANE, Utah (AP) — The two people killed earlier in a small plane crash in southern Utah earlier this week have been identified as a Hurricane couple.

Hurricane city police Sgt. Brandon Buell confirmed the IDs Saturday of 56-year-old Shawn Ackerman and 49-year-old Bonnie Ackerman.

Buell says the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the plane to go down in a remote area near Hurricane at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. He says the city offers its deepest sympathy to the couple's family and friends.
