SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Rashawn Thomas hit 11 of 19 from the floor to tie his career-high with 30 points to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to an 85-79 win over Texas-San Antonio on Saturday.
Thomas also grabbed nine rebounds and had two blocked shots. Brandon Pye added 13 points and Hameed Ali chipped in 10.
The Islanders (7-2) have won six straight, losing only to Texas and Texas A&M.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi closed the first half with a 20-4 run to lead 43-31 at the break. The Roadrunners closed to 62-54 with 7:52 left and 79-73 at the 1:09 mark but could never catch the Islanders.
Texas-San Antonio (1-9), which played eight of its first nine games on the road, has lost its last six games.
Ryan Bowie had 25 points, his fifth game of 20 or more, and grabbed eight rebounds for the Roadrunners. Nick Allen and Gino Littles added 10 points apiece.
