CHICAGO (AP) — Keron Deshields made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Tennessee State to a 64-52 victory over Grambling State in the HBCU Legends Hardwood Classic on Saturday.
Darreon Reddick had 11 points with three 3-pointers, and Wayne Martin added nine points and 11 rebounds for Tennessee State (6-2), which has won three straight. Tennessee State finished 5-25 and 5-26 the last two seasons.
Remond Brown scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half for Grambling State (2-7). Nigel Ribeiro finished with 10 points.
Tennessee State had a 10-point lead five minutes into the game, and led 32-20 at halftime. Deshields scored 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field in the first half.
Johnny Woodard made a 3-pointer to stretch Tennessee State's lead to 55-35 with nine minutes left. Woodard scored six of his nine points in the second half.
