LE BOURGET, France (AP) — France has presented negotiators from nearly 200 nations with what it called a "final draft" of a plan to slow global warming and urged them to approve it later today. The agreement aims to slow rising temperatures and sea levels, and eventually hold man-made emissions to the levels that nature can absorb.
BERLIN (AP) — Switzerland's Attorney General's office and the Swiss Federal Police Office say they have opened criminal proceedings against two Syrian citizens on suspicion they manufactured, concealed and transported explosives and toxic gases. The two people arrested yesterday in the Geneva area are also accused of violating bans on militant groups like al-Qaida and Islamic State. It's not clear whether the two have any connection with the four suspects being sought in Switzerland for alleged ties to the Islamic State group.
JESUP, Ga. (AP) — A San Bernardino, California shooting victim credited with shielding a co-worker from bullets is returning home to Georgia for burial. The funeral for 45-year-old Shannon Hilliard Johnson is being held today in the rural city of Jesup. One of Johnson's co-workers, Denise Peraza, says he wrapped an arm around her and said "I got you" as they sought cover from the gunfire that killed him and 13 others.
NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — Officials in Newtown, Connecticut, say they will try to make Monday as normal a school day as possible. It's the first time students will be attending school on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Twenty first-graders and six educators were killed Dec. 14, 2012. Monday is the first time the anniversary falls on a weekday.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The annual Army-Navy time is being played today in Philadelphia. Navy has won the last 13 meetings between the two, the longest winning streak in the history of a series that began in 1890.
