COACHELLA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have determined that a mosque fire in Southern California was intentionally set. People at the mosque described hearing a "loud boom" and seeing flames. Authorities provided no details on how the fire was set or whether the department has any suspects. State fire investigators, the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI are assisting.
BAGHDAD (AP) — Officials say the commander of the base is among five people killed by a suicide car bomb targeting a border security post in the western Iraq province of Anbar. The bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a checkpoint outside the headquarters. The attack follows significant gains by Iraqi government forces in Anbar.
NEW DELHI (AP) — Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised today to fully support India's efforts to become an economic powerhouse as the two nations signed agreements that could pave the way for Tokyo to supply New Delhi with military aircraft and high-speed trains. The two countries also laid the groundwork for Japan to help India further develop its nuclear power.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Near collisions between drones and manned aircraft are raising questions about the effectiveness of FAA rules about where the remotely directed aircraft can fly. The report released yesterday counted at least 241 reports of close encounters between drones and manned aircraft, including 28 incidents in which pilots had to veer out of the way. Most of the sightings occurred within 5 miles of an airport and at altitudes higher than 400 feet -- spaces in which the FAA prohibits drones from flying.
