SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A former Carbon County official is pleading not guilty to allegations that he spent thousands of dollars in federal grant money on himself. Prosecutors say Jason Llewelyn spent at least $5,000 in money meant for the county to buy hundreds of things for himself and his houseboat instead.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Federal land managers have approved the right of way a rural Nevada county needs to replace an aging water tank that critics had argued was a prime example of development doomed by new U.S. protections of the greater sage grouse. The move comes a week after Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Interior Secretary Sally Jewell had agreed to address a number of concerns about the land use restrictions, including the water tank White Pine County officials say is desperately needed near the Utah line.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Reality TV personality Kristin Cavallari says her heart is in a million pieces after her missing brother's body was found in southern Utah. Kristin Cavallari posted on her Instagram account that her brother always made her laugh and had a good heart. The Grand County Sheriff's office said that crews discovered the remains believed to be that of Michael Cavallari yesterday morning in the same general area where his car was found abandoned on Nov. 27.

HURRICANE, Utah (AP) — Police in southern Utah say at least two people are dead after a plane crashed in a remote area near the city of Hurricane. Hurricane city police did not release details about how many people were aboard the aircraft, whether anyone survived or what might have caused the crash.
