GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Joshea Singleton scored 24 points and N.C. A&T topped Maryland-Eastern Shore 80-74 on Monday night.
Singleton was 5 of 9 from the floor and 12 of 15 from the line for N.C. A&T (4-7, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Sam Hunt scored 16 points and Bruce Beckford had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-7, 0-2) was led by Devin Martin with 14 points and Dominique Elliott had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Aggies forged a double-digit lead midway through the first half, and a 14-6 run put N.C. A&T up 42-25 at the break.
The lead reached 19 early in the second, but UMES chipped away and got it to one with 1:01 left on a 3-pointer by Thomas Rivera.
N.C. A&T made 5 of 6 from the line in the last minute to seal it, while UMES missed its last two shots and the front end of a one-and-one.
