Could the economy be affecting the number of people looking to head back to school to become teachers?
Several school districts have reported an increase in the number of people applying for jobs. "It's been a great year. We've had over 182 applicants so far this year for teaching positions alone," said Lana Hiskey, spokeswoman for the Nebo School District.
But is this a direct result of the economy? Hiskey says not so fast. "[It's] not necessarily connected to the economy this year, that we can tell," she said.
She says the district is using a new online method for teachers to apply. It's a Web site called "Teacher to Teacher.com" and is accessed by teachers around the country, and even in other countries.
