(KSL News) We've received a few e-mails and phone calls at KSL the past few weeks from people saying Salt Lake's downtown farmer's market didn't have any farmers. Well, today that all changed.
Potatoes, apricots, cherries and plenty of other produce has finally arrived at the farmer's market. This year's early crops are quite a bit smaller because of the long winter and cool spring.
Maryanne Lyon, with Tagge Farms, said, "This is just our second week here at the farmer's market. Because of the late growing season we just didn't have a lot to sell. So we got a late start, and this is about all we have right now is cherries and apricots."
Many farmers we spoke with said the pickin's are a little slim now. But come August, expect a lot of local produce, including tomatoes, melons and peaches.
