BRIGHAM CITY — World War II veterans from Box Elder and Cache counties took a trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C. with Utah Honor Flight to visit their memorial.
They returned home Sept. 26, but because of the late hour they didn't get a lot of local recognition. That was remedied in a big way Saturday night with a banquet dinner at the Brigham City Community Center.
On its whirlwind trip, the group toured the capital city and saw the monument honoring their service. One man went on the trip to assist the group, and he said many of the men and women who served never had the chance to go to Washington, D.C. until now.
The trips are only possible through donations from the public. If you'd like to help, visit UtahHonorFlight.org.
