(KSL News) A car accident in Centerville backed up traffic on I-15 for hours today. The Utah Highway Patrol says witnesses saw two cars racing down the road. One lost control, hit a freeway sign and rolled.

The passenger of that car was in critical condition and had to be flown to the hospital. In order to land the chopper, UHP had to shut the highway down, creating a major backup.

UHP shut it down again later for a brief time to take photographs of the accident. I-15 is now open and the backup has cleared.
