(KSL News) An increase in trauma patients and a seasonal drop-off in the number of donors has ARUP Blood Services asking for help.
ARUP is the sole provider of blood for the University of Utah Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center and Shriner's Hospital for Children.
Company officials say the need for blood at those facilities has risen close to 400 percent in recent weeks due to a high number of summertime injuries.
