(KSL News) Fireworks are legal between now and July 7th, if you use the right kind in the right places.

Fireworks bought in Utah are legal to use, but fireworks purchased outside of Utah, especially in Wyoming, are likely illegal here.

In Salt Lake County, you cannot light fireworks anywhere east of Wasatch Boulevard or north of 11th Avenue, and fireworks are illegal in all canyons.

Firefighters want everyone to have a fun and safe celebration. Salt Lake City Fire spokesman Scott Freitag said, "Enjoy the holiday, enjoy the fireworks, be safe about it, follow the rules that are put in place and you will have a good time."

Freitag says to supervise children closely, and always have a hose or a bucket of water handy if you need to douse a fire.

If you plan to attend the fireworks display at Sugarhouse Park, give yourself plenty of time because construction on I-80 will make getting there much more difficult than usual.
