(KSL News) Utah is getting a big boost to battle a big problem: obesity.

The federal government will give the state Department of Health more than $2 million in grants to develop the Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Program. The program is aimed at slowing the rate of obesity in Utah and reducing the number of people in the state who are overweight or obese.

The health department says currently more than 1 million Utahns are overweight or obese.
