SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah doctors' group is speaking out against lawmakers' plan to have doctors, hospitals and others pay most of the cost of expanding the state's Medicaid rolls. Utah Medical Association CEO Michelle McOmber says her group opposes the idea because doctors already lose money on Medicaid patients, so they shouldn't also have to pay higher taxes and fees.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 29-year-old woman has been rescued after being trapped in her wrecked car in a secluded canyon southeast of Salt Lake City. A couple heard her cries for help yesterday afternoon and assisted in her rescue. Utah County Sheriff's deputies say the woman suffered several broken bones, but is expected to recover.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The mother of police shooting victim Darrien Hunt says she's rejected a $900,000 offer to settle a lawsuit against the city of Saratoga Springs. Susan Hunt says that she couldn't agree to the offer that would have barred her from talking about the case. Prosecutors say the Sept. 10, 2014 shooting of Darrien Hunt was justified.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Another federal judge has stepped aside from the case of a county commissioner convicted of leading an ATV protest ride through a closed canyon. Judge Jill Parrish had asked to be recused because she represented the Bureau of Land Management during her eight-year stint as a federal prosecutor. The ride was designed to protest the agency's decision to close the canyon to motorized vehicles.
