RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 35-year-old Reno man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison after he was arrested with nearly a kilogram of methamphetamine.
Francisco Ibarra pleaded guilty in May to one count of conspiracy to distribute, and possess with intent to distribute, at least 500 grams of controlled substance.
Federal prosecutors say a Washoe County deputy acting on a confidential informant's tip to Sparks police stopped Ibarra for a traffic violation last summer and found a blue duffel bag with 983 grams of pure meth. They also seized a scale, plastic bags, 10 cellular phones and a radio frequency detector.
U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks ordered an additional five years' probation during Ibarra's sentencing this week in Reno.
A co-defendant, Jennifer Fulcher, earlier was sentenced to six years in prison.
