WASHINGTON (AP) — A disapproval resolution targeting the Iran nuclear deal has fallen short in the Senate. Democrats voted to uphold the accord, overcoming ferocious Republican opposition. The resolution fell two votes short of the 60 needed to move forward.
PHOENIX (AP) — The search for a suspect in a string of Phoenix freeway shootings has reached a frantic pace. Police jumped from one spot to another, investigating five more reports of vehicles being shot. Police confirmed one of those reports, raising to 11 the number of vehicles struck on Phoenix-area freeways since Aug. 29.
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have released new photos taken in the chaotic aftermath of the Colorado theater shooting. They include pictures of the auditorium where James Holmes killed 12 people in July 2012. The images were released in response to open-records requests. Holmes was sentenced to life in prison.
BALTIMORE (AP) — An attorney for one of the six officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray says they're disappointed that a judge has decided their trials should be held in Baltimore. Outside the courthouse, about two dozen protesters cheered when they heard the ruling. They chanted: "The trial stays here."
NEW YORK (AP) — A man has swum about 2 miles from the Statue of Liberty to New York City while promoting his upcoming around-the-world attempt. Sixty-year-old Martin Strel plans to circle the globe in about 450 days — starting in Long Beach, California, on March 22.
