LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada agencies are getting about $5.6 million to start processing a backlog of more than 7,500 untested rape kits. Attorney General Adam Laxalt says Nevada would get up to $2 million from the White House and the New York City prosecutor's office. Laxalt said the money will ensure criminals are brought to justice and will assure sexual assault survivors that the state is invested in solving their cases.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police officers will receive a salary increase under a new $39 million labor contract approved by city officials. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports police officers will collect a 2 percent pay increase. The city plans to pay for the officers' pay hike by salary savings gained through vacancies.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno man has pleaded not guilty to vehicular manslaughter charges days after being linked to a string of stolen vehicles, robberies and car chases. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports 27-year-old Stephen Christie pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charges stemming from the July death of 27-year-old Alejandro Sandoval. His attorney has declined to comment on the manslaughter case.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Pop star Britney Spears is staying in Las Vegas for at least another two years. Caesars Entertainment Corp. says Spears has extended her residency at the Planet Hollywood casino-hotel on the Las Vegas Strip through December 2017. Her "Piece of Me" show debuted December 2013. Tickets cost $59 to $229, not including fees.
