BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho is home to one of the GOP's wealthiest donors. Frank VanderSloot of Idaho Falls is founder and CEO of health care products company Melaleuca. He tells The Associated Press that five candidates out of the crowded Republican field have caught his eye, including favorites Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former business executive Carly Fiorina. He says he's not ready to predict a winner.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Ada County Highway District says it will appeal a district judge's ruling that it owes more than $1 million to the owner of a Boise retirement community for damage to a decorative wall. The Idaho Statesman reports the district was improving a road and built a sidewalk in the area of Brooke View when the wall was damaged.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho fireworks vendor is challenging a ban on fireworks sales in seven cities. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Teri Ann Krause alleges she's lost around $42,000 because of the ban inside the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. The bans were imposed over concerns about fires in extremely dry conditions.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Work will begin in October on a massive upgrade to Clearwater Paper's Lewiston site. The Lewiston Tribune reports that the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley's largest employer plans a $160 million project to build a new chip pulp digester. They received an air permit last week from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.
